I have been "playing" with Linux for a while, and now I know enough to have some favorites "distros". The new Fedora Core 4 is smooth, even on my PII with 256m Ram, and SimplyMEPIS is working well on my laptop.
In addition, for a usable Live CD, try SLAX linux. One of the fastest out there.
