IE7 Z-Index ignored

Using this nice little menu:
http://www.threestyles.com/tutorials/css-drop-down-navigation-tutorial

Part of the stack got slid behind a slide. Setting a z-index worked *except* IE7 ignored it.

Fix:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3385513/ie7-puts-absolutely-positioned-div-underneath-ignores-z-index

IE's stacking order algorithm is messed up. You have to position the parent of the element you want on top, give it a position like relative if it doesn't already have one, and a positive z-index.
That will usually resolve it. If not, keep trying the parent of that until you get it.

IE Needs tbody for Javascript Insert

Bounced around with this issue: IE was injecting the table, as Firefox was, and I could see it in the "Generated Code" view.

Discovered this helpful post:
Basically what you're running up against is IE's need for a "tbody"
element when you create elements. It just won't put anything in the
table unless it's got one. I've done this on the JSFiddle I linked above.

Huh. Unbelievably, it worked.

Web Devs -Favicon not showing up in IE

I found a stupid solution on the internet today:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico?">

The ? is the key - just the link didn't do it.

IE8 Team - are you listening? How about fixing some nagging little issues like this, and the insane caching that breaks all the rules, and the spidered history files all over the hard drive?
